Did anyone see
Glenn Beck last week when he had this author on named Jason Wright? I sat stone silent watching this piece on Fox News, knowing I was going to do this during the Christmas season this year. The segment touched my heart in a way I can't describe! Let me try to explain in a nutshell what Christmas Jars is all about. Do you know that loose change you have laying around? Maybe it's in your car console, maybe it's in a piggy bank, maybe it's in a big ole water jug! Mine is in the bottom of purses I don't use anymore :)... (yea I'm lazy like that! haha) You take that change, put it into a Mason jar, jelly jar, heck even a peanut butter jar! Decorate the jar all Christmas-like, then you place the words "Christmas Jar" somewhere on it. Once you are finished making the jar all pretty, you take it and the book that Jason wrote, and you ANNONYMOUSLY place them on someones doorstep, front porch, walkway, whatever. Imagine the surprise and gratitude and LOVE that person will feel when they find such a gift there! The catch to all of this is you should think of someone less fortunate than yourself who needs the jar and the inspirational book. Someone who just lost their job, lost a family member, was diagnosed with a disease or has a loved one who was diagnosed. I know so many people who are having a hard time right now, it's so sad! My husband has been jobless since June, but guess what, there is someone out there who has it a heck of alot worse than we do. I thank God every day that we have our health, that we have a roof over our heads, and that we wake up in the morning. Someone out there doesn't have the gift of all of those things. My daughter (you all remember Nicole right? lol) God love her! When I told her I was going to make a Christmas Jar she said to me "Mom, WE need a couple of those jars for ourselves! Why are you going to give your money away?!" I said to her "Nik, that change is laying in purses, I don't even think of it! Why not give it to someone worse off than us?" She still thinks I'm crazy but I believe she's starting to understand :).
There are over 100 people in my Yahoo group, over 100 people are following me on this blog, and who knows how many more that drop by just to see what I'm up to. If every one of those people read this and make a Christmas Jar this year, imagine the love that will be passed on through out this world. Imagine how many smiles will be put on peoples faces! Think about how many tears will be shed...tears of joy and happiness...and gratitude! Over 200 jars could be made with love by you guys and shared to those that need that spare change. And we all know how spare change can add up right?!?! Will YOU be making a Christmas Jar this year and sharing in the joy, love and peace of the season? Please go to
Jason's website about Christmas Jars to learn more and to read some inspirational stories from real people who felt the love of sharing a jar to someone less fortunate.
Oh yea, as for the freebie today... I made a tagger size tree template. It's CU so if you want it, just grab it
HERE. It's saved in a slew of PSD layers to colorize.
Have a great night everyone!
